Relief Energy Ltd is transforming everyday waste into valuable resources that support clean energy access, improved sanitation, and sustainable agriculture across Rwanda. Through circular economy solutions, we convert human, animal, and agricultural waste into clean biogas for cooking and organic fertilizer for farming—turning challenges into opportunities for communities and the environment.
Our approach begins with responsible waste collection from schools, public toilets, farms, and markets. Instead of polluting the environment, this waste is safely transported to our processing facilities, where it undergoes controlled biogas production. The resulting biogas is used as a clean, affordable cooking fuel, reducing dependence on firewood and charcoal while improving indoor air quality and public health.
In schools, toilet waste is converted into biogas that powers kitchen stoves for student meals. This solution improves hygiene, lowers cooking costs, and protects surrounding forests. The remaining by-product from biogas production is processed into nutrient-rich organic fertilizer, which supports school gardens and local farmers.
For public spaces such as markets and transport hubs, our planned projects will safely manage toilet waste and convert it into bottled biogas for households and institutions. This not only improves sanitation but also creates green jobs and promotes renewable energy use.
By closing the waste loop, Relief Energy Ltd contributes to climate resilience, environmental protection, and food security. Our work supports Rwanda’s green growth ambitions by reducing emissions, improving soil fertility, and empowering communities with practical, sustainable solutions.
Together with partners, communities, and supporters, we are proving that waste has value—and that a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable Rwanda is possible.
